Another spanner in the works: the never ending problems with a project

Hello everyone, how are we all doing on this fine Sunday afternoon! I hope you’re all having a good weekend. Today I’m going to get into the ever changing plans of a project and the usual life events that get in the way of a complete project.

So let’s get into it all…

Before you even get the car you start thinking of the plans, the end result where you want to get to with the car and before you know it you start working out all the parts and which order you’re gonna do it all in. Then you get to the part where you have to add it up and figure how many paychecks it’s gonna take up and just how you’re gonna explain it to the boss (aka the girlfriend).

By the time you get started on the build you’ve probably already had a setback or two, whether that’s not getting the car you initially thought you’d get or maybe it’s just a money thing and you had to prioritise something else. Then you finally step into the realm of actually having the car, the maintenance and problems that come along with it as well as the good stuff too! You get through the maintenance bits and finally get to the point of spending money on some go faster bits, only to have another fault occur and throw a spanner in the works.

Something I’m personally experiencing with the S3, so you’re not alone on it. I jinxed it with the post the other day saying that the maintenance is done for a bit. Only to be hit with a misfire on idle that needs the injectors tested and cleaned along with an inlet valve clean too. Not cheap and it certainly has wiped out the car fund for a little while. It’s one of those out of nowhere things that kills the fun of a project and can leave you a little lighter on the wallet. When these things happen regularly you can think the only way to get past it is to sell up and start again with something else.

Sometimes that is the right answer but sometimes it’s not. It’s a tough call to make. Especially if you’ve put a lot of time, effort and money into it, it can make it hard to make the right decision. If you’re in the middle of a project and hit a bit of a wall, whether that’s a fault with the car or maybe you just have a million and one other things going on in life that need sorting. Just know that “block” doesn’t last forever and sometimes it’s a case of pushing through and spending the time and effort in the right place and it will all workout.

The time and effort is always worth it, and on the days where you just think the car is cursed and hates you. Just think what it will be like to turn the key once your vision all comes together and enjoy the car you envisioned right from the start. Maybe plans change along the way or maybe things take a complete u-turn. It might even be a change of car along the way, whatever it is though nothing will beat the feeling of a “complete” project. And yes, a project may never be finished, there’s always things we want to do, but getting it to certain points along the way are a massive boost in morale to keep the car and keep building it.

So, I will keep you all in the loop with the S3 and hopefully it will be back to full health soon, but until then I’m gonna keep pushing through with it and hopefully I can get some exciting new bits put on it and continue the build for me and for you lot too. If your car is testing your patience with issues or just breaking the bank then I hope it stops relatively soon and you can get to enjoy your project in the way you wanted to. Just keep pushing through and it will get there. Wherever you’re at with your project just keep going where you can or make the best decision you can if it’s time to get rid.

Until the next post, I will hopefully be letting you know some good news on the S3 and some other Up To Fun related news too, I feel it’s time to have a little catch up on the future content and other stuff too. For now though, I will love you and leave you, and see you next week for another rambling post.

Enjoy the ride,

E.
